MI Panel Details

MPEG-2 PS (Program Stream) files are organized in packets. Within a packet the data are arranged in logical blocks depending it's content. Each block starts with a header, identifying it's type.

Panel Details is showing a MPEG file from this point of view arranged in a list.

The main data of each packet and each logical block are decoded and indicated in one line of the list.
The captions of the columns are context sensitive, i.e. the captions are changing depending which type of block is selected in the list.

The range shown in panel Details is determined by the range selected in panel Frames. The selected frame in panel Frames determines which row will be selected in the details list. Selecting another row which contains a picture header or a GOP header will also select the same frame in panel Frames.
This linkage applies also to panel Dump in a general manner.

After changing the representation range and/or the filter settings the button Refresh will update the list.

With Save / Details list the actual list can be saved to a text file.

Select frame range
After selecting panel Details the lower and the upper frame number of the frames shown in panel Frames are represented here. The values can be replaced manually, whereby the inputs are examined for their plausibility.

With the button Full range all frames of the file will be included in the list. It is to be considered that it can contain a huge number of data in a big MPEG file. The user will receive a appropriate warning message.

The input fields are disabled while using a MIX file. If a MIX file is used only the range can be used which was selected during creating the MIX file. Data outside this range aren't stored in the MIX file.

Filtering headers
With the checkboxes in the upper part of the panel you can determine which headers shall be shown in the list. You can check or un-check each single checkbox. For example you can uncheck the slice headers since these are very numerous (36 slices per PAL frame) and the slice headers will make the list confusing.

With check all you can check all checkboxes at once, with check default only GOP and picture headers will be selected.

With time stamp only is suppressing video and audio stream headers without time stamp.
