MI Panel General

Panel General shows in 5 areas the main key figures of the loaded video file in alpha-numerical way. The shown data are related to the portion of the file which was read.

The trial version reads the first approximately 800 frames of a file. Then MI stops reading automatically.
A user can stop reading by clicking the button Stop Reading too.
Please click the areas in the picture below to get information !!!

The area File info shows the file related information. With field read and the progress bar at the lower end of the window you can estimate the progress of the reading procedure.
During reading MI stores important information of the video file into internal tables for faster access in analyzing. In addition the statistic figures concerning numbers and spreading of particular information are build to detect typical characteristics and remarkablenesses.

In the areas Video info and Audio info shown data are results of the analysis of the header data of the logical blocks of the file. They are certain usually already after short reading in time, because they are noted in higher blocks, which apply to the entire file and constantly repeat themselves.  You can thus also trust these information, if you use only the trial version.
If the file has several audio tracks (streams) theses can be selected with the pull-down-menu in the area Audio info. The information shown below the pull-down-menu are related to the selected audio stream.

In the range Remarks are specified special characteristics of the video file and other remarkablenesses, which were discovered by MI when reading the video.  You will find an explaining list in addition here (to be done).

Within the range Statistics you will find statistic analysis of the contents and structure of the video file.
The range is thematically arranged into groups, which headings indicate respective contents.
The group of Ratios points the proportional portions out of different groups of contents of the video.  From this itself already first referring to unusual constellations in a video can devoted.
The group Pics/GOP "number of pictures per GOP" (Group Of Pictures) points out the relations of the several GOP sizes in the video.
The values indicated in the group Bitrates (average) are related to the entire file. These bit rates are calculated from the file size, the number of frames and the duration of the frames and will build a theoretical value of real total bit rates. The indicated values can deviate substantially from the nominal bit rate within the range video info.  The not mentioned ranges (e.g. Packets, GOP's and Frames) show pure results of the count.

The information represented in the panel general can be exported into a text file with menu Save/General data. This text file will be saved to folder where the video file is stored. The file name carries the video file's name extended with "_GD.txt"
